Horama ID Description
Horama ID deploys image classification models for species identification in research, collection curation, or biological field work. Users can download and install individual models and switch between them as needed. Horama ID uses the device’s live video feed to display interactive identification suggestions. Species names can be tapped to bring up species profiles with an example image to confirm identifications.
Taxonomists can contribute new models with species profiles and explanations of the scope of the model if they follow formatting requirements. This allows the deployment of these models to end-users of identification tools through a standardised repository.
Currently, the app implements only identification and does not recognise individual users or collect data. Furthermore, it is currently limited to model contributions in ONNX Runtime format that have been created with Custom Vision. We intend to expand its functionality in the future, and feedback or suggestions are appreciated.
Horama ID was funded by the CSIRO and implemented by 2pi Software, Bega, Australia.
