Lightworks Bluetooth Utility Description
The app provides the ability to perform routine maintenance activities via Bluetooth connection for LightPack devices that are unable to be connected to a WiFi or LTE network, allowing for flexible placement of LightPacks outside network coverage zones.
Prior to maintenance activities, the app requires a log-in to the central Lightworks portal via a network connection. The portal URL is entered via the "Advanced Settings" dialog accessed from the app Home page. Once a connection has been established, a sync operation is required to load information about the installed LightPack devices at the facility. This information is used to easily link portal device information with Bluetooth signals received by the app. The most recent sync time is listed in the "Maintenance Pre-Flight" section.
During maintenance walkarounds, the Nearby Devices page continuously scans for LightPack Bluetooth signals and populates a table of located devices. Selecting a device provides a detailed page for the device with maintenance options for the user:
- Get Status Data: Status logs created by the LightPack device are stored internally and can be downloaded to the app over the Bluetooth connection. Selecting this option retrieves all status log files available since the last status date in the portal for the device. Once these files are downloaded, a popup stating the number of files retrieved will appear, and the device status will change to "Ready for Upload".
- Update Device Software: Updating the LightPack software is a two-step process. The user begins by deploying the update files to the device. Based on the target software version for the device (which is assigned in the web portal), the required files are sent to the LightPack over the Bluetooth connection. Once these files are sent successfully, a popup appears stating how many update files were sent and directing the user to click the "Start Update Process" button. Clicking this button instructs the device to execute the installation instructions sent to the device, rebooting it if necessary.
- Device Restart: Clicking this button will perform a restart on the Lightworks communication software services. Note that this is not a restart of the control system itself, merely the communications software.
Once all required status logs are collected and the user is back within range of a network connection, the collected logs are transmitted to the portal via the "Send LightPack Statuses" button on the Home page.
