Faculty of Open and Distance Education (AUZEF) is the faculty that carries out the activities of open education and distance education programs within Istanbul University. As of 2009, distance education; AUZEF, which has been accepting students within the scope of open education programs since 2011, is constantly progressing towards becoming Turkey's leading digital faculty.
As of 2024, AUZEF has a total of 47 active programs, 36 of which are open education and 11 of which are distance education. 20 of these are undergraduate programs, 23 are associate degree programs and 4 are undergraduate completion programs.

AUZEF offers all its students the opportunity to receive education at Istanbul University standards, regardless of time and place, by using digital learning-teaching methods. In this context, unlike traditional education models, the student is not required to come to campus; It offers a platform where lessons are taught in a completely virtual environment via the internet and computers/mobile devices, and the participant can watch them over and over again whenever they want.
