Could be (and used to be) significantly better. The App opens with an entire home screen dedicated to a search box, as opposed to showing the Weather for my primary (saved) location. I have to scroll down to see this. I feel this is prioritising the wrong thing - it should at least be an option in the settings menu to change this. The main menu is accessed by a button located in the top left of the screen. This is the hardest location to reach on a phone screen in single hand operation.
Suddenly (unnecessarily) requires login. Shame on you, BBC, for such privacy invasion; as the app used to work fine without login, this is clearly a design decision. Give people the choice, don't force it on them, and don't degrade the functionality to achieve your agenda, that's a stick, not a carrot. Reduced to 1 star: Worse, the app now wants to force you to turn on location/GPS so it can identify your location. It used to be possible to set a default location. Gone. 🤬
BBC are obviously not too worried about the low recent ratings as they have not commented on any reviews. Used to work well. Only remembers one location, and when opens, fails to find anything . Refuses to add anything else and just shouts unavailable. Have tried reinstalling, updating etc, but same each time. Seems to have a mind of it's own. And why have to register? Shame, because I used to like the simple layout. Now uninstalled. Other free, no ad ones out there if you look.
