I've tried this app I think for more than a year now. I'm based in Canada. It seems like a reasonable and helpful and small way to create a bit more security on one's mobile device in Canada which can help with some issues of using an unknown wifi internet access point without going as far as using a full VPN. There were a few places I had to shut it off to restore connectivity but it gives me some peace of mind. I haven't tried the paid upgrade that provides more encryption in some circumstance
The only reason why I hesitate to go all-out with the stars is the nervous feeling I get when I read the 3 options and the 1st one listed is just the 2nd one, but without the necessary features that would make the app more useful than most legit browsers. WHY is it there? WHO would choose option 1 over 2? It smells of sneaky tactics that a lot of malware uses to goad you into choosing the option that sets its dirty deeds into motion. I'm trying to trust this app anyway, cos Go Canada? 🇨🇦etc
I set the app on "always on" but it disconnects as soon as I turn on the hotspot on my Motorola Edge 2022 and then fails to reconnect even after I turn the hotspot off. Maybe an issue with the ISP Fido. Or another example of a government agency having problems with technology? The catastrophic failure of the payment system for the federal public service employees' wages comes to mind. An app not worth keeping for me.
