I found out this app could help bypass a faulty proximity sensor by keeping the screen on during call. However, it'll be nice if there's an option to assign the proximity sensor task before enabling the service. I had to force reboot my phone because the screen went black after enabling the app. Besides that, the app is helpful.
I'm not sure what's in the paid version but e basically what the free version does is to set your preferred action on how your screen behaves when you hand passes over the sensor. Not useful for those trying to disable sensor while listening to voice messages or having phone calls in both screen on and off states.
Been using Gravity Screen for years, but now it's stopped working as reliably and I'm completely addicted to having this function. Tried several similar apps, all could turn screen off, none could turn it on. This one does both! I'm so happy to have found it Edit: A few hours later and I'm going to say this is better than Gravity Screen. Works every time, no fuss, and I like that using the power button temporarily disables it. Fantastic work, dev!
