Great reporting, excellent summaries and digestible updates about global events of broad concern, but an absolutely terrible app. Buggy and slow. This app is so unresponsive that you can click an article, scroll down the page, and watch the app open some other, random article (the one which now occupies the location on the screen you clicked several seconds before!). How has the software team managed to fail so miserably in delivering a snappy interface for something as simple as loading text!
This app is all grown up now. Nice and smooth. Pleasant reading experience. Or mostly. Another review just reminded me this weird thing happens with the scrollviews where it will start jumping around a page at a time and becomes unresponsive. Not too often. It seems to happen when I touch the bottom edge of the screen, but not entirely sure.
Great newspaper, tragic app. Every year the app gets worse. I just had to remove and reinstall it to free up the 8GB it was consuming. There's no auto-clean of old issues in the settings. The app never remembers what article I've read, often scrolling me backwards several pages. It attempts to show me an ad inbetween every single article for my paying subscription. Etc, etc. Do better, Economist.
