Freebie Mode kinda hidden but I did get in. App seems useful, especially for rank beginners. Less useful if you already know some words: I can see no way to skip forward to more appropriate lessons -- I don't need several videos interspersed with mini quizzes to "learn" basic greetings. Now reading Don Quijote in the library; lets you mark words to learn. Wish I could browse all free books at once, instead of feeling like an afterthought. Like how ads for premium have "never show again" option.
I am a fairly advanced German speaker, around a B3 level. I took the placement test, but it doesn't seem to count for anything. There are only a handful of lessons. Made it through all in a short time. "Audiobooks" are a robotic computer voice, and I have noted several mispronunciations. I have seen several spelling errors in the lessons. Was looking forward to TV/movies, but it's just clips in the lessons. A nice idea for an app, but there isn't enough material. Some bugs. Support was helpful.
Honestly. I love the idea for this app. Using movie clips and actual stories brings the language to life. But it's very slow to load. Often takes longer validating my answer than I do typing it out. And when the task is repeatedly clicking "oh" then "cho", it taking four to five seconds each time to check I pressed them in the right order is incredibly frustrating. I unsubsribed after two days annoyed with it freezing on validation and overly repetitive tasks.
