This app is ok, however; be aware that it will rarely give the driver an accurate location to pick you up at. You may have to walk a block or two to find your taxi. Usually this is not an issue, but the driver may cancel if you're not there on time. Also, it is hard sometimes to understand where the pick up point is. It should be where you are standing, but often is not the case. I also cannot update my account with an email because grab says my email is already in use.
Two times over the past two days, after selecting a pick up point the drivers changed the pickup point at the last minute and said that I should go to a new pickup point in 2 minutes! That meant crossing a very busy intersection and walking one or two blocks. So I told him to cancel the ride. But I got charged for the ride plus $4 "penalty". It's extremely unethical to change the pickup point after having agreed to it when you committed to the ride, and still worse is getting charged for it!
If you're looking for a ride, don't bother, it'll continuously search, and the drivers will cancel without any repercussions after you spent a lot of time waiting, however, if you cancel, app will extend wait time as penalty. It's better to use this for food delivery only. My experience was based while I was in Thailand. Drivers will try and call you to renegotiate cost of trip when the trip is through a difficult path. For tourists, drivers won't notify you that site is closed at drop off time.
