I did some tests of the function, and it works very well. You can set the boost so high it hurts. But even 2x amplification can make a whisper at 2m understood. It definitely uses the phone mic, not the headset mic. About in-app: After a very short test period, only a few minutes, I had the option to wait for 5 minutes to use it again, or I could upgrade to the unlimited package for just $1.99! This is completely reasonable, for what you get. I recommend this app.
Turn your android into a bluetooth dongle! Using a TRS to TRRS cable you can use this app to turn anything with an audio out jack into a bluetooth enabled device. Other apps can't have you turn off the screen, they have bad audio quality, or have a noticeable latency. This app is literally perfect across the board and is the solution to let me listen to my shortwave radio wirelessly with only a 5 dollar cable!
I tried 5 other "super hearing\spy" apps, all with fancy settings and all jam packed with ads. This app actually does what it says, it amplifies the sound in real time. There was barely any noticable delay when a noise was made and when it was made louder by this app. Be careful. When the sound level gets above 10, it gets LOUD! (which is what I wanted)
