- Can't figure out how to change temperature unit to degrees Celcius (I live in Germany). The grill itself shows the correct units, though. - Using WiFi connection, although the grill and the smartphone are connected to the same WiFi, communication is done over amazon cloud services. This makes sense if connecting from outside, but not from within the local network! And even if not at home, one could use a VPN connection. - I could not find an API nor another way to get the temperature readings for e.g. display in smarthome software like home assistant. Freedom of data? - The app doesn't seem to feature temperature plots. Since data is already in the amazon cloud, it seems easy to have temperature charts online. Or at least in the app.
When the app disconnects and then reconnects to the smoker, it resets the timer on the smoker back to the original time. So say you set it for three hours in the app. An hour goes by. Timer says two hours left. All good. Then lose Bluetooth connection because you walk away, or kill the app because it locked up (fixing that too would be nice), and then reconnect. Timer gets set back to three hours. Pretty lousy behavior.
I'm trying to use on a new smoker. It took several attempts to get bluetooth connected. Finally got it connected but left range of Bluetooth and lost connection. Several attempts were made to reconnect without success, including unplugging smoker and restarting a couple of times per the instructions. Finally tried uninstalling app and reinstalling. Now all I get is initial app screen without any links showing. Worthless app!
