OMG  when I read "ID yourself with an app" I thought: fantastic! No more slow humiliating calls with grumpy humans. But the Nect app manages to reproduce the same bad experience - without any humans involved. It would be rather easy to fix though - cut down on the long winding explanatory videos, make taking photos and videos more flexible, actually start recording the two words on time and not after forcing the user to tilt their phone for 2 minutes...
Yet another humiliating experience using an app (IT software product): 1. It doesn't take into consideration how impractical is to hold, tilt and roll the front page of a passport with 2 covers that tend to close as a book 2. The simple tilting and rolling around the photo of the passport holder (while filming with the other hand) is a waste of time. 3. Most apps are impractical, a waste of time and designed by people with vague overall perspective.
Good idea, bad implementation Having to watch those videos, describing how to hold your ID, just to get a summary with pictures and text afterwards? Nice touch, but a waste of time and you get the feeling you're really stupid. Especially if a step didn't work, you have to do it again multiple times, watch the video every time, did everything as shown and there is no hint what's wrong. I'd really wish to have the option to speak to a human after the third failed attempt.
