Was a long-time user of the old QuickPic app, but it was discontinued and I can't use it on my new phone anymore, so I was looking for a replacement, which I definitely found with Piktures. It offers the same basic features like organising your photos, hiding folders, adding external sources, etc, and it does a truly fantastic job. By far the best gallery app that I have tested out so far. There are, however, a few little problems imho: – The Safe Space is locked every time you switch to another app, including editing apps or video apps, and even if you just want to watch a different video you will have to unlock the Safe space, which makes handling it quite time-consuming. A setting to adjust the time it stays unlocked would be nice. – When adding a Google Drive it shows all pictures in one album. If each folder on the drive represented one folder like with the internal storage, that would be great. Using Piktures' built in file browser isn't exactly a good compromise in that regard. – There is no option to shuffle slideshows and during slideshows GIFs aren't played. Also, an option to have slideshow pictures displayed as 'borderless pictures' (like in the standard view) would be awesome.
I've been using this app virtually forever. This is going to be the first time I'm replacing it. Some update utterly broke the app. It's ridiculousy slow and sharing images is basically non-functional. It's stuck at trying to share the same image all over again, regardless of what you selected. Only hard-closing the app will fix it. I'm not sure how it's possible to break a perfectly functional app to such an extent, but here we are.
Great app! After years of trouble I found this well designed tool to organise my pictures on my phone. It works perfect with a folder structure. Every function is at the right place. On my Sony it runs without any issues. Feature request: I miss the visibility of the star in the folder view. It's good to have the option of give the good pictures a star, but then I like to select all stared pictures in a folder to share them together.
