[Update: 3-27, nothing they say to do fixed the emoji wasted space issue. This is a garbage app. Still using gboard until this is fixed.] The amount of recent emojis saved is 28, which leaves a massive amount of empty space in the keyboard that should be filled with all the other emojis I use on a daily basis. It could fit well over 60 emojis if they actually used the space correctly. This is the only keyboard I've tried that wastes space like that. Very disappointing. Back to gboard I guess 🙄
The autocorrect feature is atrocious. It acts more like a prediction feature, and will occasionally even save misspelled words for later use. The themes are nice, but typing with this keyboard tends to be a bit of a hassle. Update: It seems to have improved considerably, but I've also just worked without autocorrect on. It still saves, but it no longer suggests mistyped words so readily without really training the AI to do so.
I've used SwiftKey for at least the past 8 years across multiple devices. It was ahead of its time compared to default keyboards included on phones when it was introduced, and has kept up over time. The settings to adjust appearance and layout are easy to navigate. I also like the emoji search interface. If you're interested in finding a new default keyboard, this is worth trying.
