I previously used Sync for Reddit. Sync for Lemmy is just as good out the gate. I felt like Lemmy is a great concept, but I don't completely understand what instances are, or how it differs from reddit. Sync makes everything very accessible and I don't have to really care what's happening under the hood. I've seen complaints about ads, but they have been pretty unobtrusive for me. Overall great experience. Looking forward to replacing reddit.
So I used sync on reddit and I'm impressed with how quickly the dev has managed to port the user interface across to Lemmy. It must have been a lot of work and I don't mind paying for it. Also I know from experience that this dev is good at rolling out new features and responding to problems. Same UI as reddit sync but now on a platform that feels younger and more healthy.
So far love it! I'd never used Sync for reddit, but I wanted to try new third party apps for Lemmy as I wasn't impressed with my current app, and happened to see that the Sync devs had reworked their app to function with Lemmy. My experience with Sync so far is wonderful. My only complaint: I'd like to be able to pay for a version that doesn't collect my data for sale to marketers. Sync is very clear and upfront about their data handling policy, but still I'd be willing to pay for more privacy.
