UPDATED REVIEW 8 MONTHS AFTER RELEASE: The app has added some widely requested features. Tapping the icon at the top lets you view your "following" feed and you can use multiple accounts. The bug with video playback not having sound sometimes is still an issue for me. Reading other reviews, I agree that a direct messaging system independent of Insta would make this even better. It's become a great alternative to X (formerly Twitter), just needs some things ironed out. Added 1 star.
It's nice because there are no ads, but the app is terrible. The character limits make no sense (you can leave a way longer comment on IG where no one cares). People are always making longer comments by replying to themselves, but that's confusing and ugly and makes reponses ridiculously complicated. Also, if you switch to another app for a moment it'll randomly erase everything you've written and put you back in the algorithm.
Decent place to flee Xitter, but is critically flawed as a product: 1. Needs to use all of the real estate of large screens (tablet app would be appreciated, but not holding breath). Even in the browser about 40% of the screen is not used — this is a major, major fail, mimicking Instagram’s idiocy. 2. Search is abysmally bad. We need far more granularity, including time based conditions. 3. We need custom lists yesterday.4. Need to have more control of personal algorithm
