I think overall the app is good & I am glad to be introduced to it. However, there are a few issues. Sometimes it says sent but it's not delivered. It does NOT allow my read receipts to work EVER. I know they are read because they are responded to, but I can't see they are read. The picture was a very clear picture and yet when saved your app made it grainy. When I edit a comment it doesn't post right away and so the whole message isn't delivered yet.
I find it works quite well. The dark mode setting carries over from your system settings. There are a few other options I would like to see, like hiding the contents of messages from push notifications as Google shares those with the gov't. Overall, it is a much more minimalist approach than Snapchat, Telegram, or it's other competitors and I like it.
I hate the new version of the app so much but it's the only option I have for a messenger at this point. Currently having a hard time with the fact that there is no dark mode and you still haven't restored the ability to search for words in individual chats. Also there's a new bug where people are changing their user pictures but they won't show up in the app and are currently blank but I know a picture should be there since on the desktop the new picture appears.
