The Monk is an extremely powerful melee class with tons of range. The class is extremely nimble and mobile and can teleport from one place to the other. The Monk can also deal tons of damage and is extremely fun to play for those who like more mobile classes. As such, here’s a guide for all the Monk’s skills including which ones you should be picking up in most cases.
Do note that you will need legendary crests and pieces before start going ham with the class as they add important modifiers to the spell.

Unleash a wave of energy, carrying enemies hit within it and exploding for 1982 damage to all nearby enemies at its maximum range. Charging longer increases range and damage up to 2379. When fully charged, the waves will also knock enemies away.
Now in terms of spell synergies, Monk doesn’t have the same thing that Wizard has. Really no other class has the interaction to the level a Wizard has and we wish that would change if all the classes has the same synergies as the Wizard has. So, you won’t be combo-ing spells anytime soon. The other classes don’t necessarily have these combos like the Monk can jump off walls and things like that.
Monk is definitely pleasing to play. You can use a wave strike to push the enemies back and then chase after them with a flying kick. Or you have your Fists of Thunder to teleport to your target. You can jump on them with Shield of Zen. You do have gap closers but the Monk with his base abilities does feel a little weak at times. He does not really come to his own until you get Legendaries that really fix some of the issues he has.
The spells you get are really weak when you are leveling and they do not seem to synergize very well. It is fun to play and level a monk but it doesn’t feel as synergistic as Barbarian, Demon Hunter, or a Wizard when leveling. The Monk shines when you get Legendaries. Things then really start to come together.
For example, you can get a Legendary that causes Exploding Balm to teleport to another location. So now, all of a sudden you have another Dash Ability. It also drops an AoE explosion. You can then proceed to DPS on top of that. However, it would have been better if the ability lingered on for a little bit more just for that extra oomph.
Currently, here are the skills we recommend for the Monk class:
