UFC is a fighting series based on the same-named sporting event that lets players use their favorite MMA fighters. With complete and official licensing, EA has indeed been able to develop an interactive experience for fans of the sport, and the mobile edition was first released in April of 2015. EA has released UFC Mobile 2 for mobile devices just under seven years later to replace the original edition. Now that we have discussed all that, let's begin with the Pros and Cons of the game.

Pros of EA SPORTS UFC Mobile 2

The graphics and performance of UFC Mobile 2 are appropriate for latter-day technology

Talking about the predecessor UFC Mobile game, it is no surprise that the graphics in the first UFC Mobile game were a huge disappointment. It is safe to say that they did not match the huge advancements in terms of graphics which were evident in other similar games.

In this regard, UFC Mobile 2 made a lot of improvements. With more animated and vibrant colors, the game looks much better and gives the users a better overall experience. It appears that EA has managed to succeed in at least raising the level of the UFC mobile series to compete. It is also worth noting that graphics are a bit simplified.

Overall, it's a significant upgrade over the previous game in terms of design and quality, which was required. The mobile gaming industry has advanced significantly in recent years, and it would be foolish for EA to settle for lesser visual appeal to the competition. However, while the game's technical aspects have been improved, the other sectors are arguably not at the level they should be.

Cons of EA SPORTS UFC Mobile 2

Significantly Simplified Gameplay

Unfortunately, the game's controls have been reduced to taps and swipes. As much as the graphics fit the modern devices, the advancement in terms of controls let down the game. It's not an advancement but more of a retraction with EA going back to the basics. With such simplified controls, players have significantly less control over their fighters.

As a result, each match moves fast, making it hard to enjoy the game – something the UFC should be known for. The stamina system is adequate, but it does not adequately compensate for the major flaws in the gameplay. The game lacks strategy as if the whole point was never to make it difficult. Also, the gameplay is more arcade-themed for some parts of the game. Special abilities, magical actions, and animated effects, for example, do not work in this context.

Lack of Fluidity and Dynamism, and Annoying Tutorial

The menu options and gameplay have been redesigned, and sad to say, not for the better. There is no vibrancy in the game, and it starts to feel as if the game is playing itself. Talking about the Tutorials, the initial tutorial is excruciatingly lengthy and, to be honest, a little annoying.

During the tutorials, you must see everything like offers and various options. All those menu options, which are truly meaningless for beginners, really drag the tutorial for so long.

EA has introduced a slew of general-purpose items that offer the same function, albeit in diverse ways. Improving a fighter, for example, necessitates gold, various levels of training items, and possibly rank-up items of varying rarities.

After all of that, you'll realize that simply improving the fighter isn't enough; there are also passive abilities, synergy, stars, overall ratings, and even more abilities to consider. It all seems unnecessary and serves as another impediment to players using their favorite fighters. The gameplay is overly simplistic, and using the fighters isn't particularly enjoyable.

In-App purchases make winning meaningless

Users can buy just about anything with real money if they spend enough of it. It has devolved into one of those games with only two options: the long grind or the paywall shortcut. As a result, success is essentially meaningless. It is not a symbol of skill but rather how much game time is spent.

Upgrading a fighter to max level does not feel like an accomplishment; someone will always pay their way through. Furthermore, upgrading fighters and acquiring new fighters.

Conclusion

As you can see, EA SPORTS UFC Mobile 2 has more cons than pros. This game does not have to offer much in gameplay, game modes, progression of the game, and Free to play Elements. The graphics and performance have improved, but this isn't enough to mask the mess surrounding it.

With the original game gone, as UFC Mobile 1 is no longer available, UFC Mobile 2 is the only MMA titled game available for mobile. Instead of the tactical and highly interactive gameplay one would demand from a UFC game, we have an arcade-themed swiping game. Even though the menus appear to have been the main focus, they are flavorless and cliched.

We would rate the game 2.9 out of 5. Overall, the game is disappointing and does not worth your time. Although, it will be really interesting to see what the game will offer in the future.
