Punishing: Gray Raven is a cyberpunkish-era Action RPG proclaimed to be on par with Nier Automata and Honkai Impact 3rd games receiving great praise and popularity even to this day. The game combines elements of pulling for your favorite Waifus and Husbandos, similar to other gacha games, along with many supports and attachments to your equipped weapons. The developers have brought this reality to life in a beautiful fashion.
Punishing: Gray Raven heavily relies on the combat mechanics of its various Heroes called Structures in this game which may make the game become complicated, but practice can make your skills shine soon enough but don't let it be marred by some mistakes you could've avoided if you knew about the specialty of different structures in this regard and how to use them properly, which is what this guide is about. For more information, read our other Guides.
In this guide, we go over the skills and abilities of both S and B-Rank Nanami Structures in detail while discussing their combos and general way of playing and eventually deciding on which one to choose so that you have a clear picture to choose an S-Rank from the selector token after you’ve chosen one of them. No matter what you choose, have fun with the game, as the more you practice with your chosen Ravens, the better you will get at this skill-based game.

"Nanami's agility boosted body. She added the IR-005 booster wheel. The ability to move at high speed allows her to roam easily on the battlefield." "Hehe, you can only see my after-image, right?"
Nanami Pulse is the ultimate model of Nanami. She is equipped with IR-005 propulsion wheels on her heels, which lets her blast across the battlefield at lightning-fast speeds. She can dash through enemies while putting herself in an overclocked mode, granting her access to new abilities. Here is a quick rundown of Nanami Pulse’s abilities, builds, and more in Punishing Gray Raven!
As Nanami is defender/tank class by default, her stats and skills gear more towards providing buffs and shields to your teammates, and keeping the team alive is the primary goal. Now, if you want to play her as a pure DPS, you can do so, and to do that, you don't need to focus on pumping her ATK. Instead, you can focus more on skills and memories to further enhance her core ability as a tank to reduce any enemy's elemental/PHY resistance and reduce their armor. Reduced elemental RES means you can deal more damage while keeping you live longer because you are a tank.
Veteran players also recommended picking up S-Liv as your S-Rank selector because if you tweak Liv towards a bit more DPS, she can survive even the hardest battles due to her heals. Though your content clear will be slightly slower than done by your DPS, the same can be applied if you choose to play S-Rank Nanami as a pure DPS.

Nanami Pulse is an S-class Tank that excels at dealing fire elemental damage. Both her red and yellow orb skills deal great damage, and they also deal fire damage if used with at least three orbs. Her blue orb skill deals good damage too, but it’s used mostly for the shield and super armor bonuses, which let Nanami Pulse attack her foes without interruption.
Core Passive – After using her ultimate, Nanami can enter Overclock mode, converting all her AA into fire DMG. All enemies hit by her AA get their fire resistance lowered by 7.5(15) % for 8 seconds.
Nanami Pulse needs a bit of setup for her to excel in battle. Soften your foes up with her red and yellow orb skills, and use her blue orb skill to stay in the fight longer. Your goal is to get her signature move as quickly as possible, as that increases her damage output significantly.
Nanami Pulse is a late bloomer – she needs many resources for her to really start shining. As mentioned earlier, her signature skill lets her reduce enemies' fire resistance, and these combos well with all three of her passive skills, which only activate when she is overclocked. The downside is that you won't unlock them until she's ranked up to SSS+ rank.
Orb Skills:
Red Orb – Moves forward and jabs the enemy with her chainsaw, dealing 10/20/30(20/40/60) % PHY DMG, which she can deal for 12 times. If it's a 3-orb, the DMG will become fire damage instead.
Blue Orb – Spins around and gets ready, then hits the target with a strong uppercut, deals damage three times, each time dealing 25/50/100(50/100/200) % physical damage. Also gains a shield which is based on Nanami's 5%/7.5%/10% max HP and super armor status, lasts for 5 seconds.
Yellow Orb – Leaps into the air and somersaults along with her chainsaw, dealing damage twice, where each hit is doing 50/100/100(100/200/200) % physical damage, each hit does 100(200) % fire damage when it is a 3-orb combo and create a Fire Energy Halo, which deals 15(30) % fire damage. This halo can hit up to 12 times.
Active Abilities:
Attack – Slashes enemies with her chainsaw, dealing up to a total of 310(620) % physical damage.
QTE – Nanami appears and spins around, dealing 240(480) % of fire damage to all surrounding enemies and lowering their fire resistance by 5(10) % for 6 seconds.
Ultimate – Nanami dashes across a distance, all enemies caught within the dash take 450(900) % of fire damage.
Passive Abilities:
Leader – Entire team's defense is increased by 15%; fire resistance is increased by 10%.
Awaken – When entering the battle, get 3 Orbs (only once per battle).
Class Passive – Enemies take 10(20) % more damage when attacked by you, lasts for 5 seconds
SS Rank – When attacking with AA while in Overclocked status, there's a 30% chance to detonate enemies, which deals an additional 25% fire damage.
SSS Rank – After using your ultimate, gain super armor. All DMG received decreases by 20%, increases all fire DMG dealt to enemies by 15%, and lasts for 8 seconds.
SSS+ Rank – After using your ultimate, increase all damage dealt by 15%, lasts for 8 seconds.
Weapon Signature – Hydro Heat and Lightning Spark.
Memories:
Build 1 QTE Support:
Da Vinci ★★★★★★
2-set Effect – When QTE is triggered, the player-controlled characters will gain 10% attack and 20% defense for 8s.
4-set Effect – When QTE is triggered through a 3-Orb consumption, it can trigger another character's QTE, CD: 8s. When all characters are on the battlefield at once, it increases the attack by 20%.
Einstein ★★★★★★
2-set Effect – QTE/3 orb skills decrease target's element RES by 15% for 8 seconds, (Meaning: if a fire attack hits the enemy, it decreases fire RES, if lightning, it decreases lightning RES. PHY does not work with this memory) CD: 15s
4-set Effect – When damaged, open an elemental ring and increase your elemental resistance by 5% + 1% of your current element resistance for 5s. The ring grants an increase of element damage by 15%, CD: 8s
Build 2 DPS:
Shakespeare ★★★★★★
2-set Effect – Increase all damage by 3% and fire damage by 7%.
4-set Effect – Each attack has a 50% chance to inflict Burn to the enemy for 8s. Attacking Burned enemies has a 20% chance to trigger an explosion, dealing 100% fire damage. Burned enemies have -8% fire resistance and take 12% fire damage every second. Stackable up to 3 times. Burn duration resets after each stack.
Erwin ★★★★★
2-set Effect – Increase basic attack's damage by 10%.
4-set Effect – Increase basic attack's damage by 15%. Buff disappears when attacked, returns after 12s.

"A mysterious structure that disappears frequently. Nanami might be loud and hyperactive, but nobody knows her true identity. Her biggest hobby is observing humans and playing pranks."
Our resident spinning chainsaw, Waifu, As a B-Rank character, is one of the first characters that you get in the game. She can be classified as an Armor Class unit specializing in Defense, Crowd Control and Armor Break mechanics. She does have a very important role in the team as she is a Tank Class. She offers protective barriers, reduces the enemy's DEF rating, and easily breaks an enemy's Super Armor. Aesthetically she is a cute character to look at and is well made; a shoutout to the developers for making a good deal of detailed props for the characters.
As we can see from her stats, she is a pure PHY Tank class making her a good team member to help them protect gains incoming damage and dealing de-buffs on the enemies. Fully leveled up to 80, she has really good stats, including her DEF as well.
Nanami Storm feels a bit stiff when you are new at playing with her, which is due to the gameplay style of the Structure, and she does have a long jump in between her AA which requires getting used to. Sometimes the controlling ability of their animation can be a problem that requires a bit of practice. Overall, Nanami will be on your roster for a long time to come, not just cause it's free.
Just because she is a free B-Rank Structure and not an S-Rank one doesn't make her any worse as Nanami Storm can easily ascend to SSS+ rank by farming her shards in the challenge mode inside the interlude mission mode up to twice daily. Challenge mode is unlocked around level 45.

For B-Rank Nanami, the most important skills for her are going to be the Yellow and Ultimate.
Mainly she will be used as a QTE support which you can switch around if needed. Using her QTE when her color Orb is consumed for that support de-buffs and DEF while switching her around for when needed to reduce the armor of the Boss or enemies so that your main DPS can swap in to do the rest. Swapping in and out is one of the main ways you can use this B-Rank babe to utilize her fully.
Core Passive – Any 3-orb combo followed by a Yellow orb will trigger an EX-Cutting Storm, striking surrounding enemies continuously eight times, dealing 100% Physical damage per hit.
It can be useful as triggered when you consume any 3-Ping and then a Yellow Orb; she will do 60% PHY DMG 8 times and spinning to winning mode.
Orb Skills:
Red Orb – Sprint forward and attack, dealing 240%/480%/720% Physical damage to enemies in a rectangle AOE ahead.
This skill can be used as a gap closer fi needed aside from dealing PHY DMG.
Blue Orb – Pull enemies towards the character, dealing 100%/200%/300% Physical damage. Target's defense is reduced by 10%/20%/30%, and Physical resistance of the character is increased by 20%/40%/60% for 4/4.5/5 seconds.
Blue Orb Skill makes Nanami Storm unique in that's when activated, it pulls in surrounding enemies and deals Physical DMG and reducing the DEF of the enemies hit. Nanami also increases PHY Def for a short period.
Yellow Orb – Spin quickly in place, dealing 200%/400%/600% Physical damage around the character.
Just a spin that deals PHY damage.
A good combo on the field can be 3-Ping Blue Orb > CC enemies > Break their DEF > Yellow Orb > Tons of PHY damage with a knock-up due to Core Passive > Swap main DPS > Clean up the enemies.
Active Abilities:
Attack – Continuously attack with the chainsaw, dealing a total of 800% Physical damage.
Her AA deals PHY damage at the melee range, pretty self-explanatory.
QTE – Perform a spinning attack upon entering the field, dealing a total of 770% Physical damage.
Her Tank staple skill deploys Nanami onto the battlefield, bay-blading spin on the enemy which de-buffs the enemy providing increased DMG to your DPS towards that enemy, also dealing PHY damage and knocking them down, best for using in QTE combination.
Ultimate – Expend 100 energy to release a force field, blocking all attacks and protecting allies within. After 5s, an explosion occurs, dealing 1000% Physical damage.
Good DEF and offensive skill when you are in the fray as her Ultimate drops a force field defending any allies standing inside that force field bubble and deals damage by explosion after the duration of shield ends.
Passive Abilities:
Leader – All team members' Defense +15%.
Awaken – When entering the battle, get 3 Orbs (only once per battle).
Class Passive – Targets hit take 20% more damage for 5s.
SS Rank – Basic attack damage +15%, Aggro generation +20%.
SSS Rank – When core passive is triggered, Physical resistance +30%.
SSS+ Rank – After activating ultimate, damage +20% for 5s. This DMG buff is for the entire team for a brief amount of time
Weapon Signature:
Noise – Physical Damage +10% for 3 sec when switching targets.
Lightening Spark – 30% chance of applying Armor Break when attacking, reducing DEF by 5% for 3 sec, up to 5 stacks. Triggering the effect again refreshes the duration.
You should minimally invest in her 4* weapon, the Noise, that's because her 5* weapon, the Lightning Spark, is given for free after completing the novice missions and has a pretty good passive where it further reduces the enemy's defense.
Inverse-Chimera – 20% chance of applying Damaged condition for 3 sec when attacking, up to 10 stacks. The target receives 2% PHY DMG every second. The effect is doubled when the target is suffering from Defense reduction while Damaged. PHY DMG +10% towards Damaged enemies. Inverse Chimera basically allows Nanami to Deal PHY overtime.
Memories:
The main premise for B-Rank Nanami is that she can be played as a semi-Tank and semi-DPS depending on your needs but mainly Tank. Nonetheless, most of the time, her memories are focused on buffing her allies with DEF and de-buffing her enemies with DEF down so they can receive more incoming damage. She has many choices when it comes to equipping memories on her, which we have written below in the form of a few builds. Just remember to invest in 5* memories as much as you need to progress and not more.
Build 1-Early 5* Build:
This build can be used early to mid-game when you reckon that your team isn't taking much damage and you can go the full DPS route; you can use this build with an Elemental team. 2-Piece Gloria is here for enemy elemental RES shred while 2-Piece Voltaire for DEF down and finally 2-Piece Aife for more damage.
Gloria ★★★★★
2 -set Effect – Attacks decrease the enemy's resistance by 6% for 5s, CD: 12s.
4-set Effect – Enemies within 5m have 6% lower elemental resistance when you are attacked, lasts for 7s. Triggering again will reset the effect.
Voltaire ★★★★★
2-set Effect – Attacks decrease enemy's defense by 10% for 5s, CD: 12s.
4-set Effect – Decrease target's physical defense by 15% when attacked, lasts for 7s. Stackable up to 2 times
Aife ★★★★★
2-set Effect – Increase all damage by 2% for every Orb consumed, lasts for 3s. 5 stacks max, with each stack resetting the buff's duration.
4-set Effect – Every 60s, the next 3 Orb Skill will trigger slow-mo.
Build 2-Alternative to Build 1:
If you are getting hit a lot and running an elemental team, 4-Piece Gloria gives more elemental RES shred, especially if you get hit, and 2-Piece Voltaire for DEF down for more damage.
Build 3 – 6* memory build:
Da Vinci buffs her main assault structure and can simultaneously function as a sub-DPS dealing normal damage herself, which also works with QTE support. This build works well with PHY teams.
Catherine ★★★★★★
2-set Effect – QTE/3 orb skills will decrease the target's physical defense by 20% for 7 seconds, CD: 10s.
4-set Effect – When damaged, gain a shield equal to 20% of your defense, blocks the current attack, and gain a 15% increase to physical damage for 5s, CD: 8s.
Build 4-PHY teams:
Voltaire here for enemy’s PHY RES shred Aife for damage.
Build 5-Elemental Teams:
This is your only real choice in this case. If you’re wondering why not a 2-Piece Einstein a 6* memory in this case instead of Gloria, it is because B-Nanami's QTE does PHY DMG, so the set bonus for Einstein won't even proc.
She is compatible with literally all characters in the game since all characters in the game benefit from her buffs and DEF reduction mechanics. She can work along well with both PHY DMG teams and Hybrid PHY/Element DMG teams. She can go with a DPS and another support team as a de-buffer/tank when your main DPS is purely damage-focused and doesn't leave room for more damage requirements.
You can also use Nanami Storm as a Hybrid DPS/Support/Tank if you want to utilize the Ultimate abilities of your main DPS along with her to kill off difficult Bosses. She is very useful in Boss battles since she provides the de-buff that will benefit the team.
Finally, if you're not using her as your main DPS and going for S-Rank Structures or Meta, she synergizes well with everyone, whether it be Alpha, Lucia, Lee and Bianca etc.

Thought processes and actions are completely unpredictable, even beyond imagination. A strong sense of curiosity this trait would become great aid in battle but would often become the cause of the crisis. She is a Construct that acts upon whatever she desires. |
2 |
She possesses the ability to hack into any system, even capable of communicating with robotic or infected Constructs. A conflict occurred between her and a team from Babylonia -- the Hellhound team; the conflict's cause is unknown. Still, there is a record of Nanami going undefeated against a team of Elites all by herself. |
3 |
She possesses an interest in all things human-related. It is uncertain if the Commandant being a human is the cause; she is usually obsessed with the Commandant of the Gray Raven team. However, she does not appear to show any special interest in other human commandants of other teams. |

Punishing Gray Raven is the latest hack and slash video game that relies heavily on combos and quick-time decisions. The game requires you to match orbs while initiating their combos with other orbs while dodging and attacking, which can become difficult on mobile screens. Therefore, the LDPlayer key mapping feature allows you to set up easy controls in this situation, coupled with macros to set up certain combos by mixing up the QTE and the main character's different attacks. While some players prefer playing PGR with Keyboard and mouse, many others love to play with their controllers by utilizing the Gamepad on Emulator feature of LDPlayer.
When playing Nanami Storm, it's purely your choice to play her as a QTE support and De-buffer or a Hybrid DPS/Tank you can switch in and out. Nanami storm is a great investment until Rosetta's launch, probably at least half a year away. Nanami Storm and A-Kamui will be good Tank units for PHY teams. She can stay with even elemental teams as there isn't much choice for Tank units. Elemental teams will flesh out with their elemental Tank Structures but hold on to your Nanami until then.
Nanami Pulse is a late bloomer in the ultimate model of Nanami and may need a bit of setup for her to excel in battle if you will be using her as a pure DPS. She can soften your foes up with her red and yellow orb skills and use her blue orb skill to stay in the fight longer when farming and carrying the game all by herself, especially during the early to mid-game. Your goal is to get her signature move as quickly as possible, as that increases her damage output significantly. She is pure Waifu material but still holds her ground against other S-Rank powerhouses since the game's launch, so don't worry if you have decided to pick her as she can build a pure DPS while you can choose another Tank later on to support her.
We hope that this guide can help you understand both the Variants of Nanami and what they can do with their playstyles and what you are looking for and playing with them
