Agent Tsuro Description
Agent Tsuro is relaxing at work when he gets a distress call. The call came from Tsindi, a 13-year-old high school student. Tsindi tells Agent Tsuro that a few months ago, she made an online boyfriend after he DMed her when they joined the same Online Music Fan Group. She and him texted, and after a while, he asked her to send a picture of her that was flirty. She did, but when she sent the picture, he said that he would post it up if she did not pay him money. She refused and then he uploaded it to LipRead (FaceBook)She is very scared. She is worried.
She asks Agent Tsuro for help. Agent Tsuro says that she did the right thing by asking for help. He tells her that it is important to tell her parents. They might be angry at her for a short while, but they are worried about her and will want to help her resolve this issue.
- She agrees to tell her parents. They go to the parents’ house. At first the parents are annoyed, but calm down and ask Tsuro to help them. They say that they are worried that if the picture stays up, Tsindi could even face problems with getting in university or finding a job. Agent Tsuro says he will go and find out how to help. He tells Tsindi and her parents that they should all learn more about online safety, and that Childline has useful resources for learning. Tsuro says that it is important to remember that while we can take steps to take down content we regret; prevention is better than cure. Thus, it is important to know what to post.
Tsuro goes to the Server Office. Here, Tsuro asks them how he can take the photo down. The Server Office tells him he can block and report the user and image, so they can take it down. However, even if they manage to take down the image here, they can only do it on the servers they own. Therefore, if the image appears again on a different site, they will have to file a new report. Because of this, they tell Tsuro that it important to be careful about what you upload. Tsuro thanks them and continues on his journey.
Tsuro goes to the Childline centre. Tsindi is with her parents. Tsindi thanks Tsuro for his help, and says her parents and her are now working together to learn more about digital safety and navigating the internet. Her parents say that they are learning that the internet is a great tool, but we need to careful in how we use it. Tsuro says that is great and that we should all remember to “SHARE WITH CARE!”
