The Air Quality and Health Risks Index informs the population about the state of air quality (good, acceptable, bad, very bad and extremely bad), also about the level of associated risk (probable damage to health , depending on whether the risk is low, moderate, high, very high or extremely high) and the recommendations of the actions to adopt (measures to reduce exposure); In other words, the aim is that the information received by the population not only refers to air quality at a certain time, but also allows them to act with opportunity to protect their health, which was specified in the objective of this Official Standard. Mexicana (NOM-172-SEMARNAT-2019), without thereby modifying the original purpose of said Index.
