Assalub Oil Viscosity App Description
This application give you the viscosity for an oil at the temperature you choose. This calculation is based on ASTM D341.
You need the viscosity for the oil at 40 °C (104 °F) and 100 °C (212 °F). Then you give the temperature for which you want the viscosity calculated and the app will show it.
The Oil Viscosity App generates the result instantly, without having to use the viscosity/temperature diagram which is the usual way of calculating the viscosity at a certain temperature.
For example, if you have a gear box where the oil temperature is 85 °C. The oil must have a minimum viscosity of 50 cSt for this type of gear box.
Now you want to know if your oil is suitable. You check the data sheet for your oil, and find out that the viscosity at 40 °C is 320 cSt and the viscosity at 100 °C is 37 cSt. You put in the numbers in the App and easily get the result: 56.5 cSt at 85 °C.
