Basic Vectoring Description
Basic Vectoring caters to the next generation of air traffic controllers who are comfortable and adept at using, and learning on, mobile devices. Like all our aviation-focused games powered on our StrataGem platform, it allows air traffic control students to leverage mobile apps and gaming while waiting - sometimes weeks or months - to get into high-fidelity simulators during the advanced phases of their training.
The game is easily implemented on individual training devices, such as iPads, can be played anytime/anywhere, and expedites the early teaching of a critical skill that must be mastered by all radar controllers. It gives air traffic controllers a strong foundation to ensure future success and has a high level of engagement that requires student focus and attention to succeed.
Basic Vectoring is versatile and is applicable to a variety of audiences including aviation majors in college, trainees of military air traffic control, and those learning at civilian agencies, such as the Federal Aviation Administration. These audiences often have more “down time” to incorporate mission game play into their learning curriculum. The game is accessible to educational institutions, including those who are part of the FAA's Air Traffic - Collegiate Training Initiative (AT-CTI), that teach basic courses to prepare qualified candidates for development at higher levels.
Basic Vectoring is engaging, and is highly used by students, while providing a generally “low lift” for instructors. Instructors don’t need to continuously put training content in the app, but, within the game, can actively oversee students and monitor their comprehension as they play and learn on their individual training device - by checking the game’s Leaderboard scores and tracking how often students are playing. Instructors can then adjust training materials, based on results, on an as-needed basis.
