Statenvertaling Bijbel appeared in 1637. It was the first Dutch Bible translation made directly from the original texts in Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek. The Synod of Dordrecht (1618-1619) had made the decision to make this translation and almost twenty years later it was completed in Leiden.
This translation became very famous. Until the present day, it is still very used in churches and for personal study.
