Bran Castle is a national monument and border insignia located near Bran and in the immediate vicinity of Braşov in Romania. Bran Castle is between the borders of the Principality of Erdel and Wallachia. It is also known as "Dracula's Castle," which is commonly known as "Dracula's Castle," which is related to the fictional character of author Bram Stoker, Dracula. There is no evidence, however, that Stoker knew about this Bran Castle, although there is some connotation that Stoker was inspired by Voivode the Impaler when creating Dracula. As a matter of fact, Bran Castle was built for defense against the Ottomans. Other castles related to the legend include Poenari Castle and Corvin Castle, also in Romania.

In 1212 the Teutonic Knights built a wooden fortress for fortification across the entrance to the mountain valley in Burzenland, through which more than a million traders passed annually, but it was destroyed by the Mongols in 1242. The first documents about Bran Castle are seen by Louis I on November 19, 1377, when he allowed the Braşov Saxons to build a stone castle at their own expense and labor. Between 1438 and 1442, the castle was defended against the Ottoman Empire, and later it was used as a customs for the mountain passing between Erdel and Wallachia. In short, it is believed that Wallachia was founded by Mircea the Great when customs were established. Although the Wallachian ruler Vlad Ţepeş (Voivode from Impaler) passed through the Bran Pass several times between 1448 and 1476, it did not play an important role in the history of the castle. Bran Castle belonged to the Hungarian Kingdom, but in 1533, the castle management was transferred to the city of Braşov because he did not pay his debt to King Wladyslaw. In the middle of the 18th century, the Bran fortress took on a strategic role militarily.

In 1920, Bran Castle became the official residence of the Kingdom of Romania. It became Queen Marie's favorite place and retreat. The castle was inherited by his daughter Princess Ileana and was taken over by the communist regime in 1948 with the expulsion of the royal family.

In 2005, the Romanian government enacted a special law on the return of property seized by force. Thus, a year later, Bran Castle was given to Princess Ileana's son and heir, Dominic von Habsburg.
