Bridge Odyssey Description
Play Contract Bridge with rubber scoring and Standard American bidding.
At each stage (the deal, the bidding and the play of the cards), Bridge Odyssey provides extra information about the expected outcome, to help you learn the game and improve your understanding of it.
From novice to expert, you will keep coming back to play one more hand!
In future versions, we intend to increase the number of scoring options and bidding systems available. In this first version the focus is on achieving realistic bidding and play of the cards. Bridge is not at easy game for computers, any more than it is for humans!
There are a number of bridge apps already in existence, so why is it time for a new one?
Firstly, we felt that all the apps we tried had not been designed for usability on a small touch screen. There was an opportunity to do it better.
Secondly, we wanted to give you the impression that you are actually playing a hand of bridge. So, for example, we do not need to see the backs of the opponents' cards, only a realistic picture of the player's hand. And when dummy goes down, only two hands can be seen.
Thirdly, on the 'info' screens we show the odds and expected outcomes that the app is using to play with. The app does not 'know' when it bids or plays where all the cards are - it uses what the bidding and play have revealed. But the app can and does use the power and speed of computer logic to make the best bid or play that it can at each opportunity.
Fourthly - because we thought we could do a good job of it.
You can be the judge of that. We hope that you will not begrudge the fee charged for the app so that you can exercise your judgement!
