WHAT KIND OF AIRCRAFT ARE AVAILABLE?
Cessna C172SP
The 172S is considered the “higher performance” Skyhawk and is marketed towards owner-users. The 172S was first produced in 1998. Its advantage over the 172R is that the maximum engine rpm was increased from 2,400 rpm to 2,700 rpm — a difference of resulting 20-hp from the 172R.
General Information. The Cessna 172 Skyhawk is a four-seat, all-metal, high wing, fixed tricycle landing gear airplane. It is powered by a 180 hp, fuel-injected Lycoming engine which burns about 10 gallons per hour. Total fuel capacity is 56 gallons. As of 2009, only the S model is in production. This model is marketed under the name Skyhawk SP, although the Type Certification data sheet specifies it is a 172S.
