Collect Description
The "Collect" App is a universal program designed to catalogue various types of collections. These can be owned objects such as books, coins, CDs, etc. They can also be collections of objects that interest you, but you don't necessarily own. However, they need not be traditional collections: for example you could catalogue famous quotes, historical facts, etc. As long as you input every detail of the collection, you will be able to access, search, and share any part of it anywhere.
Every collection can have any number of descriptive qualities. While creating a collection you can select which unique aspects ('Details' in the App) of your collection you consider worthwhile to add. For example a collection of books would probably contain the author, publisher, release year, etc. but you could also consider adding: the place they're stored, when you've read them, whether it's loaned out, etc. Details can be custom made, as such you get to decide whether or not to add each obscure detail. By default every item only has one field - 'title'.
Having created a collection and having defined its details you can start adding items. You can input the data of each item by hand, however the app also has two tools to help you streamline adding items: URL and Camera. The URL tool allows you to fetch data from your chosen Web address. The Camera tool reads and parses text from a photo. The data that the tools provide can be edited and then assigned to a desired detail field.
In a collection a set of items can be combined into series. Items or series in different collections can be combined into groups.
Your collections can be shared with other instances of the "Collect" App via JSON files.
The app comes with three premade empty collections: books, movies, and music. They can be filled with items, or removed, if they are not needed. Their purpose is to help you get started quickly, or to understand how a collection can be constructed.
All data is stored only on your phone. As such we recommend making regular backups so that you do not lose your data.
