Karim Mostafa Benzema is a French footballer who plays as a center forward. He currently
plays for Al-Ittihad, in Saudi Arabia. Described as a creative and prolific striker, Benzema is
considered one of the greatest strikers of his generation.
Born in Lyon, the son of Algerian parents, Benzema began his career at Lyon in 2005. Four
times Ligue 1 champion, in 2008 he was voted Best Player of the French Championship, in
addition to being the top scorer in Ligue 1 from 2007– 08. In 2009, he was sold to Real
Madrid for 35 million euros – at the time, the most expensive price paid for a French player
in history.
