الاستذكار Description
Al-Istithkar al-Jami` of the Doctrines of the Jurists of the Countries and the Scholars of the Countries is a book of commentaries on the books of hadith, written by Al-Hafiz Ibn Abd al-Barr, who explained the book of al-Muwatta’ on something other than what the book of al-Tamheed was placed on, because of the meanings and chains of transmission in the Muwatta’, and he added to it the explanation of the Musnad and the Messenger, and the explanation of the sayings of the Companions and followers And he arranged it on the chapters of Al-Muwatta, omitting from it the repetition of witnesses and methods, and between the sayings of Malik bin Anas and the sayings of the people of Medina, as well as every saying he mentioned to all the jurists of the regions, until the book came comprehended on the condition of brevity and abbreviation, and he made this book on the narration of Yahya bin Yahya. He did not single out words about the virtues of Malik, contenting himself with what he mentioned fully in the preface to the meanings and chains of transmission in the Muwatta’.
