Satzbau is an Android app that tries to teach you the basic rules of sentence construction in German. Of course, there is no app that can make you learn a language, but it can help.
Many people say that the best way to learn something is through play. This game tries to train your brain to build a German sentence in the right order through trial and error.
All sentences are grouped by difficulty into 9 levels. You start with simple sentences at the first level and work your way up through the exercises. If you are good at building sentences, then you will earn more points and skip the easy beginner levels very quickly. If, on the other hand, you have to repeat yourself a lot or construct your sentences incorrectly, then you will earn a low number of points and should probably work harder at the beginning.
Sentences are chosen for you at random. Some sentences are easier, some more difficult. Some have multiple correct answers, so sometimes you have to try a few times before you get the right answer. There is a small element of luck as in any game.
We use a custom database of 10,000 sentences from the collection:
"D. Goldhahn, T. Eckart & U. Quasthoff: Building Large Monolingual Dictionaries at the Leipzig Corpora Collection: From 100 to 200 Languages.
In: Proceedings of the 8th International Language Resources and Evaluation (LREC'12)"
Have fun while practicing your German.
