Briefly about the author:
Sheikh Shamsuddin Muhammad ibn Abu Bakr ibn Ayyub ibn Sa'd ibn al-Qayyim ad-Dimashki al-Hanbali is one of the most famous and prominent Muslim scientists.
He was born in 691 AH. Among his teachers are Taqiyuddin Suleiman al-Qadi, Abu Bakr ibn 'Abd-ad-Daim, al-Safiyy al-Hindi, and the Sheikh of Islam, Ibn Taymiyyah.
Ibn al-Qayyim was an outstanding expert on the Hanbali madhhab and gave fatwas. In addition, he was well versed in the Scriptures of the Jews and Christians, possessing considerable knowledge in this area. Being an outstanding expert in the interpretation of the Qur'an and the foundations of religion, he reached amazing heights in these two sciences. Ibn al-Qayyim is also known as an excellent muhaddith, who not only knew many hadiths by heart, but also deeply understood their meaning, was able to analyze them and extract Sharia norms from them. Brilliantly knowing fiqh and its foundations, Ibn al-Qayyim was at the same time a fine connoisseur of the Arabic language and related sciences. Thus, he reached heights in almost all areas of Sharia knowledge and at the same time was well versed in various religions, movements and madhhabs.
The works of Ibn al-Qayyim are still very popular among Muslims around the world. They are distinguished by the clarity of presentation, the beauty of the style, the orderliness of the content and represent a real storehouse of useful knowledge. For many centuries, Muslim scholars have resorted to the writings of this great connoisseur of Sharia sciences when writing new valuable works, and today it is rare to find a book that does not mention Ibn al-Qayyim and does not quote his works.
