Al-Mujam Al-Saghir is a book of the attributed Hadith books, compiled by Imam Abu Al-Qasim Suleiman bin Ahmed bin Ayyub Al-Tabarani, and arranged according to the method of dictionaries, meaning that he arranged it according to the order of the names of his sheikhs from whom he narrated the texts attributed to the letters of the dictionary. It contains 1198 isnaad texts, which include free hadiths and more.
Al-Tabarani’s Al-Sagheer Al-Mu’jam Al-Saghir is one of the books that took care of mentioning strange hadiths, and explaining the strangeness in them. The difference between the two dictionaries: small and middle; Al-Tabarani mentioned one hadith in al-Saghir in most cases, or two hadiths in the rare case, for each of his sheikhs. As for the middle one, he mentioned all the narrations he heard for each of his sheikhs.
This book contains 1198 Musnad texts, some of which are superscript and some are below. The author's approach in this book is as follows:
Arrange the names of his elders on the letters of the dictionary.
Al-Tabarani came out under each of the names of his sheikhs, newly or recent. Then each hadith was followed by a statement of its uniqueness.
He spoke about the conditions of some of the narrators by wounding and modifying, as he clarified the names of some of those who mentioned his nickname, and removed the confusion in some of the similar names, and spoke about the difference in some of the names, and drew attention to some of the illusions that occurred from some narrators in their sheikhs or above them, and mentioned the date of the deaths of some Narrators, and the dates of some of the stories in which the hadith came in the context, and other comments.
Explain some strange words, and between some vague phrases.
Sometimes he is exposed to mentioning some of the jurisprudential opinions on the irrigated issues.
