Defense Recorder Description
Defense Recorder is a secret witness on your phone. We constantly record background audio that can be replayed, saved, and used after an incident.
Examples of an “incident” and other uses include:
Self defense
Enforcing your rights
Verbal agreements
Lecture note taking
Replaying a lecture / conversation
Remembering someone's name or phone number
Plus much more
If something happened right now, how would you gather evidence to prove yourself and your actions? For example, a false accusation or self defense incident, among many other scenarios.
Did you know that there are more than 10 variables that need to be just right, in order for a security camera to adequately capture an incident? But that's assuming the incident is even near a security camera, usually attackers are smarter than that. Defense recorder gives you the power of constant evidence collection. No more worrying about documenting the incident or having to pull out your phone in the middle of confrontation to take a video. We gather the audio evidence of the entire event. Note: The more vocal you are during an incident, the more effective this program will be. Shall there be minimal to no communication during an incident, this app will be of little help.
How it works:
Defense Recorder constantly records and saves audio from the phone's microphone. All you have to do is set your recording parameters then hit the “start recording” button. The app will constantly record audio until you hit the “end recording” button. Just like a dash camera, we hold each clip in the device's internal storage until we need to delete it to make space for the newest clip. These recordings can be replayed, saved, shared, and even used as evidence for a legal defense. You must save or lock a file in the app before it is automatically deleted. Once deleted, there is nothing we can do to recover it.
Is it legal:
We have more detailed explanations on our website, but in short, yes, this is legal. Due to federal law on this topic, which only requires Single Party Consent. Meaning: as long as there isn't a reasonable expectation of privacy, and you are participating in the conversation, your consent is all you need to legally record the conversation. But the exact regulations vary by state, the list of safe states is also available on our website. We recommend you conduct your own research of the recording consent laws in your specific area. And we will never accept liability for any misinterpretations of the laws.
Although we do not recommend breaking the law, Nick Sargent, our founder, says: “in a worst case scenario event, I would rather take the punishment for not properly recording an audio file, as compared to being punished for something that is both, much more serious and that I didn't even do.”
Privacy:
We have never, and will never have access to your files. As the files are stored internally on your phone. More information is available on our website.
Required permissions:
Microphone
Storage
General information:
You can choose how much memory is used to store recordings. The longer you want to hold recordings, the more storage you will need to dedicate.
Defense Recorder is not connected to the internet, cellular, or gps. Therefore this program works just the same, regardless of your data connection.
Defense Recorder does not record anything that is played from your device, such as phone calls or music. We only record what your device hears.
