FLTRSim 26 Description
HVAC Filtration Effectiveness Assessment for the Built Environment
Emphasis: Filtration and Ventilation Effectiveness: Occupant Count and Exposure Duration Impacts:
- Filtration
- Dilution
- OA Rates
- Exposure Time
Considerations:
- Aerosol Type
- Characteristic Dimension (Size)
FLTRSim® Simulates HVAC Systems Impact on Aerosol and Particle Inhalation Risk, to Occupants of Enclosed Spaces Served by HVAC Systems.
FLTRSim® may enable experienced and knowledgeable Professional and/or or Chartered Mechanical Engineers, experienced AC/HVAC technicians and qualified, building air quality professionals to simulate HVAC system effectiveness in limiting occupant exposure to aerosols and nuisance particles.
FLTRSim® simulation applicability and accuracy specifically relies on professional knowledge of HVAC system characteristics, including HVAC system air filtration effectiveness, measured, clean outside air dilution volume rates; space breathing zone distribution effectiveness factors from consensus Mechanical Codes, floor area; and variable conditioned space occupant densities and exposure duration.
FLTRSim® Simulations are based on empirical methods and ongoing research regarding aspects of particle and aerosol transfer within enclosed spaces; and technical evaluations performed by and/or aggregated by such entities as ASHRAE, ISIAQ, US-CDC, US-NIH, Eurozone ECDC; as well as industry standards development and professional organizations.
