Hearing Protection Calculator Description
The calculator in this application helps us estimate the noise level in the ear when wearing hearing protectors. The noise must be measured using an appropriate noise level meter and details about the hearing protection in question must also be provided.
This application supports four calculation methods that refer to OSHA and NIOSH regulations:
NRR method
You need an "A" or "C" weighted sound level meter and the protector's NRR number. You can calculate the need for single or double ear protection. The NRR calculator allows switching calculation functions with the INVERT button.
SNR method
You need a "C" weighted sound level meter and the protector's SNR number. The SNR calculator allows switching calculation functions with the INVERT button.
HML method
You need "A" and "C" weighted sound levels and the protector's HML number.
Octave Band method
You need a meter with an Octave Band Filter and the hearing protector's APV value.
