Hermes Reader Description
Texts with vocabulary entries, lists, and flashcards in German, French, Latin, Greek, Ancient Greek, Spanish and Dutch.
Select any term by a single or double click to get the translation in a separate section of the screen.
Translation can also be shown in a pop-up window - in this case, please use just a SINGLE click to select the term (and not a double one)

We recommend using the FOCUS mode, accessible by pressing the button above the text.
Inside the Reader, the navigation buttons are intuitive. The texts are separated in numbered sections; to navigate press "Next" or type a number in the "Jump" section.
The vocabulary is displayed by pressing on "Show vocabulary". Vocabulary items can be retained, and revised subsequently in flashcards (clicking on a flashcard toggles the other side).
Users can register for free, with username and password. After login () , registered users can...
i) save their session settings (retained vocabulary lists and text indexes) for future sessions.
ii) upload their own texts and subsequently...
iii) add vocabulary to their own texts by using the translation search. Note that...
A) If the term is an inflected or conjugated form, the details of the inflection/conjugation are displayed, as well as the dictionary form. Also works for Latin and Ancient Greek!
B) Clicking again on the dictionary form gives the canonical translation.
C) The translation can also be manually edited.
