IKMIS Description
Integrated plant protection information, consulting and training information system IKMIS, implemented electronic services for farmers. The services have been developed taking into account the topical issues of EU agriculture, implementing the EU Strategy for the Sustainable Use of Pesticides, the Law on Plant Protection of the Republic of Lithuania and other legal acts.
The system is intended for farmers using plant protection products, agricultural specialists, scientists. The information and its possibilities can be used by everyone who registers in the system.
After joining IKMIS, visitors are promptly informed about the spread of harmful organisms in the crops of various agricultural plants in all regions of Lithuania. Every week, the information is entered into the system by crop production consultants of the regional offices of the Lithuanian Agricultural Advisory Service (hereinafter - LŽŪKT), who monitor crops during plant vegetation according to the methodology developed by scientists. Distinctiveness - integrated plant protection and pest forecasts related to meteorological data and certain computer modules for mathematical calculations. For this purpose, meteorological stations have been purchased and built throughout the territory of Lithuania, which calculate and provide the IKMIS system with a forecast of the occurrence and spread of certain diseases and pests, and insect traps have been installed.
The information system publishes catalogs of plant protection products, diseases, pests and weeds, which help to identify the disease or pest faster and make it easier to select herbicides registered in Lithuania that destroy them.
It is also possible to consult LŽŪKT specialists and district office consultants in an interactive way on the application of integrated pest management.
Another important area of the system is online training and certification of farmers and agricultural consultants.
Those wishing to participate in the training can choose the training method: classroom training, live training broadcast, electronic training video viewing, real-time electronic training.
Participants in all training programs will receive certificates of completion of the course upon listening to the material taught. It saves time and money by being able to take part in training without leaving home or your workplace.
IKMIS implemented a platform solution, which created technical conditions for integrating into one platform meteorological stations managed and used by various institutions and individuals, and their data. This platform solution not only allows service users to receive data from their connected stations, but also allows to process and analyze data without additional software and technological solutions, to obtain the results of plant disease, pest and weed spread analysis, recommendations tailored to the specific field where the station will be installed. .
Most importantly, all IKMIS services are free and available to anyone with internet access.
