Kaua'i Pocket Gallery Description
Take a virtual tour of the Kauaʻi National Wildlife Refuge (NWS) Complex, which provides sanctuary for soaring sea birds, waterfowl and shorebirds. A historic lighthouse at Kīlauea Point NWR on Kauaʻi’s north shore offers spectacular cliff-top views, whale watching, and imposing cliffs with nesting sites for numerous species of sea birds that live much of their lives in the expanse of the Pacific Ocean. Hanalei NWR, also on the north shore, provides habitat in managed wetlands and taro fields for shore birds and waterfowl, including five rare waterfowl species. Hulēʻia NWR, near Līhuʻe on the southeastern side of Kauaʻi, is adjacent to a historic fish pond. As the latter two refuges are off-limits to visitors, the Pocket Gallery™ app is a great way to explore and learn about these special natural environments.
