La Senda Minera Description
La Senda Minera is a project for the conservation, dissemination and enhancement of the mining and industrial heritage of the western province of León -El Bierzo mining, Laciana and La Cepeda mining and railway- proposed by the Chair of Sustainable Tourism and Local Development UNED -ULE, (CTS and DL), within its Working Group on Mining, Industrial and Archaeological Heritage of the Iberian Northwest (PMNI).
It is an integrating and catalytic project of the CTS and DL that aims to identify resources, generate knowledge and transfer it to society with economically and environmentally viable ideas, based on the sustainable use of the territory's resources, in this case patrimonializing vestiges of the mining activity signified as milestones, with a clear commitment to establish meeting points that can be reflected in innovative projects that help local development. For this reason, the participation of the local, public and private agents of the municipalities through which the La Senda Minera route is proposed to pass, is essential when defining the actions to be carried out in a collaborative, open and transparent manner.
