Marine Crackshaft Deflection Description
The Crankshaft Deflection application has been created for a marine Engineer for Engineers and Technical Offices. Is very useful application when you take deflection measurements in your engine. You take all parameters as usual and the application automatic calculates the average Bottom deflection. By calculating C and D parameters you are able to understand if your readings are accurate or not. The Vertical and Horizontal deflection parameters are also important to do correction or diagnostic for your Engine. The most important also is the Vertical reduced crankshaft deflection diagram, the line must be smooth. A smooth curve is drawn between these points and the position of this curve with respect to the base line XY gives an idea about the state of various bearing. The user can SAVE/RETRIEVE or CLEAR the data.
Instuctions
1. Begin with the measurements starting on the Bottom Port (BP) position of the crankshaft.
2. Turn the crankshaft clockwise and proceed with taking the measurements for each one of the positions noted on the graphic above.
PB = PORT BOTTOM (30° clockwise from the most bottom position)
P = PORT
T = Top of the crankshaft (TDC).
S = STBD
SB = STBD BOTTOM
3. Repeat the procedure for each one of the cylinders of the crankshaft.
Calculations
B is the average of the Bottom port and Starboard deflections.
V = The vertical deflection (T-B).
H = The horizontal deflection (P-S).
