Mrb - mio Roadbook reader Description
PDF file reader for motorbike/car navigation via roadbook.
It allows you to navigate both with km detection via GPS and, using the appropriate bluetooth button panel (see link at the bottom), to detect the sensor placed on the wheel.
Widely configurable, it was created and tested by motorally enthusiasts to try to make it as usable as possible. When used on a motorcycle, integration with an external push-button panel is strongly recommended.
At least a 7-inch tablet is recommended, but excellent results have also been obtained with smaller smartphones. It all depends on the time you have available to read the notes (race/motorcycle rally).
Among the various features:
- light/dark theme
- possibility of configuring the commands to adapt to different push-button panels
- parameterization of how much the roadbook must move when the button on the remote or touch panel is pressed. in this way you can slide slowly simulating the paper, or make larger movements, to ensure that the click immediately moves to the next / previous note
- resizing/zooming the pdf file to make the most of the available screen space
- hide the touch controls, to prevent water or land from inadvertently activating unwanted functions during navigation
- fast virtual keyboard for KM correction (just long press on km)
- ability to freely upload files contained in your device
- automatic saving of the settings every 10 meters travelled, to avoid unwanted restarts of the device and consequent loss of the note
- customization of wheel diameter, in case of use with km detection from wheel sensor
- in case of navigation with GPS, possibility to correct the GPS km with that of the KM 0
- For sports competitions, the functionality of downloading the PDF roadbook from a remote URL is provided. With this method, the file is downloaded in encrypted form and is automatically deleted from the device after 24 hours, with no possibility of copying by the user. I have always been a motor enthusiast. My motoclub has been organizing a non-competitive event for years that uses navigation via roadbook or gpx track as a basis. I wanted to create this app to offer a low-cost opportunity for all those who do not have the necessary equipment to use paper RB (https://www.facebook.com/groups/129706927217785/)

NB: the tablet in the photo is a very dated product, with hardware characteristics comparable to a smartphone from 6 or 7 years ago, on which I removed the bluetooth antenna, so if the push-button panel moves more than 50 cm away from the device, it is lost the signal, including that of the km reading from the wheel sensor. Even the anchoring system was designed to undermine the hardware part (elastic bands and ties). The aim was to evaluate the solidity of the products in extreme conditions. All the tests were passed brilliantly even with this 'historical artifact'.
