Mum and Baby Health Description
Mum and Baby Health is a Kenyan innovation that tackles maternal and infant mortality by providing health information to aspiring mothers, pregnant women and nursing mothers through the mobile phone. The innovation seeks to revolutionize provision of health information and entails sending health information and regular updates to registered users on issues like pregnancy scans, clinical follow-up, ovulation, due-date, vaccination schedules, pregnancy and childbirth complications, newborn illness, childhood infections, nutrition, malnutrition, sexual and reproductive health, and HIV/AIDS among others. The system also links users to specialists like gynecologists, paediatricians and nutritionists among others as well as hospitals and other health facilities near them to enhance access to safe, affordable and high-quality health services.
