Nature Park Visitor Centre Description
Texel Group Nature Park Visitor Centre - Audio Guide
Water and Light
The Texel Group Nature Park is not only one of the oldest of South Tyrol’s seven Nature Parks, but also the largest. Covering an area of 31,391 hectares, it is bordered to the south by the Vinschgau valley – Val Venosta – , the Schnals – Senales – Valley to the west, the Passeier Valley – Val Passiria – to the east, and the main Alpine crest to the north. The heart of the Nature Park is the Texel Group – Gruppo di Tessa – mountain range.
The Texel Group Nature Park Visitor Centre in Naturns offers an ideal introduction to the park. It presents the flora and fauna of the diverse habitats in this protected area as well as life on the Alpine farmsteads. Last but not least, the Visitor Centre exhibition focuses on the role of water, the element which has formed the Texel Group Nature Park landscapes more than any other over thousands of years. Even today, water is a leitmotif in this region – in all its aggregate states as well as its scarcity or abundance.
The exhibition also focuses on the Nature Park’s remarkable diversity – the variety of flora, fauna and landscapes, elevational zones and vegetation belts, and not least atmospheres and light. These all vary considerably depending on the altitude, geological formations, slope alignment, landscapes, the seasons and the time of day.
The Texel Group Nature Park tells of water and light. This story is also the theme of the Naturns Visitor Centre’s multimedia, interactive, fascinating and entertaining exhibition – and this audio guide as well.
