The original manga is a 4-panel manga serialized in a newspaper (however, a short story manga of about 5 pages was serialized in a magazine and included in "Bessatsu Sazae-san"). I became independent from the Nishinippon Shimbun and asked Hasegawa to write a series for the Fukuoka local newspaper "Evening Fukunichi". The serialization began on April 22, 1946, but was discontinued when Hasegawa moved to Tokyo. At the beginning of the series, the dialogue was written in katakana. The manga is set in Hakata, and Sazae was single, but when the serialization ends, Sazae is supposed to be married to Masuo. The author of "Sazae-san Uchiakewa" reminisces, albeit a little). After Hasegawa's family moved to Sakurashinmachi in Tokyo, the serialization was resumed in "Evening Fukunichi", the stage was also moved to Tokyo, and Masuo began to live with the Isono family.
