Only Radio Description
The idea was to create a fast and easy-to-use radio app, where you could freely browse through and listen to radio stations from around the world. It turns out there is this great Radio Browser API, which is driven by the community, and its database currently contains almost 40,000 radio stations.
One of the main features in mind was that the radio-experience should not be interrupted by any ads. So, this app will never have them (some radio streams may play their own ads and pre-rolls).
A significant effort was put into the app’s optimization and functionality, as well as its visual appearance. After dozens of brainstorms with my good friend (mind though he is colorblind), the app did acquire a certain style.
So far, the app has the following features:
• Intuitive design with day / night mode.
• Optimization for fast performance on long runs, with minimal memory usage.
• Display of played song titles when provided by radio stream.
• Search queries with up to 9 different parameters, which can be combined (not all combinations guarantee results, so check with provided station counts).
• Ability to add stations to favorites.
• Creation and editing of playlists.
• “Lazy list” - generated automatically based on stations that recently had the most active listening time.
• Solid history tab implementation, with auto-cleaning functionality, web and Youtube searches of liked songs.
• For your personal use, you can record parts of radio streams;
• Wide range of customizations and settings.
• Also, you can apply audio effects.
Creating this app was a big learning process for me. I hope radio enthusiasts will find it useful. If so, please leave a comment with your thoughts on what other features I could add. Additionally, if any existing feature does not work as expected, please mention it as well. I would like to continue working on and improving this app.
