OpenProdoc Mobile Description
OpenProdoc Mobile is a Document Manager and Thesaurus Manager for mobile use.
That is, it allows you to store documents with a descriptive file, create folders and files, version documents, search for them, etc. o create and manage thesauri (subject, geographical, etc.)
It allows you to define types of documents and folders, assigning the fields/metadata necessary to manage the information (e.g. fields to describe photographs, to describe reports or to describe books).
It offers practically the same functionality as the server version of OpenProdoc (http://jhierrot.github.io/openprodoc/index_ES.html) but on a mobile or tablet.
Does NOT require a server to use; Documents, files and thesauruses are saved locally on the device.
It is compatible with OpenProdoc, so that documents or thesauruses can be imported and exported between both products.
The main differences with the server version are:
- There is no indexing and full text search of documents
- There is no group management (although there is user management)
- No scheduled tasks
- No more repositories can be created than those already included nor mime types added.
- Version management is automatic and more limited (that is, there is no CheckIn and Checkout, since the intervention of several users simultaneously that requires blocking documents is not foreseen)
- This version includes the possibility of backing up and restoring data and documents
After installing, the application has 4 users (whose passwords are the same as their names):
root (main administrator with English interface)
User (User with administration and interface permissions in English)
User (User with administration and interface permissions in Spanish)
User (User with administration and interface permissions in Portuguese)
User (User with administration and interface permissions in Catalan)
IT IS RECOMMENDED TO CHANGE THE PASSWORDS FOR MORE SECURITY
The application has contextual help that can be consulted. The operation and concepts are the same as those of the OpenProdoc server, so you can consult its documentation and help to understand the concepts, although the menus and screens are slightly different.
Like any Document Manager (Document Management System https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_de_gesti%C3%B3n_documental), OpenProdoc imports documents into the internal repository, adding a specific tab with fields according to the type of document (Contracts, Photos , reports, CV, ...).
In order to import documents to its internal repository, or do bulk imports of document sets exchanged with other users, OpenProdoc needs access to the device's file systems.
These imports are never automatic, the user must choose which document they want to import and fill out its specific form.
OpenProdoc also allows you to save REFERENCES to remote documents (or Web pages), not locally stored documents. Those references will be opened using the standard Android web display component, the same one used to present the help.
