National Hero is the highest level award in Indonesia. This posthumous title is awarded by the Government of Indonesia
for actions that are considered heroic – defined as "real actions that can be remembered and imitated throughout the ages for
other members of the community." – or "a very extraordinary service to the interests of the nation and state.
This application is a list of biographies of more than 150 figures who have been designated as National Heroes.
This list was compiled based on data on the Ministry of Social Affairs website as of January 2010 accompanied by a list of National Heroes that was determined afterwards (source: https://direktoratk2krs.kemsos.go.id/datapahlawan).
National Hero is a title given to an Indonesian citizen or someone who fought against colonialism
in the territory that is now the territory of Indonesia who died or died in defense of the nation and state,
or who during his lifetime performed heroic acts or produced extraordinary achievements and works for the development and progress of the Indonesian nation and state.
In Law Number 20 of 2009 it is stated that the title of National Hero includes all types of titles that have been given before,
namely: Pioneer of Independence Hero, National Independence Hero, Proclaimer Hero, National Awakening Hero, Revolutionary Hero and Ampera Hero.
