Parque España Puebla Description
Since the 1940s, the properties that now make up the institution were soccer fields of teams made up of Spanish players, bowling was also practiced. Due to the fire that the soccer fields suffered, the Spanish Recreational Park was created and it was formed by shareholders. After many efforts, a group of members of the Spanish Charitable Society of Puebla, mostly Asturians, entertained the idea of creating a Social, Recreational and Cultural Center for children, youth and the elderly, whose principle is "young, strong, old healthy ", being these descendants of Spanish residents in Puebla. It was in 1958 when the Spanish Society of Charity of Puebla, acquired as a donation an urban estate of three properties, being constituted in a single property, with an area of twenty-three thousand and eight hundred and forty-one square meters, located at 25 East corner 10 South. It was on February 26, 1961, at the Extraordinary General Assembly of said Society, where it was agreed to create a Private Charity Institution, with the character of a Foundation, which upon being constituted would be called the Patronage of the Park of Spain, as it currently operates, whose members are members of Spaniards and children of Spaniards.
Having succeeded in lavishing a meeting center for families living in Puebla, combining Spanish culture, recreation and traditions in an atmosphere of fraternity in which the development and experience of their own identity is allowed.
Sport has always been an important factor for the healthy development of youth and the well-being of the elderly, so every day we strive to offer users the best facilities and services, for an integral development of each activity.
Culturally, during the year we celebrated the Romerías de la Cruz de Mayo, Santiago Apóstol, Covadonga, the Virgen del Pilar, as well as the feast of the Virgin of Guadalupe, in which dances from all regions of Spain are performed, interpreted for the Artistic Dance Picture, composed of girls and young people, in December a Folkloric Ballet is presented. All this is combined with exhibitions, performances by Spanish groups, conferences, tours, etc.
There is a specific area for the "Day Center", in which elderly people have been dignified, giving them the importance they deserve, making them participate in an extensive program of recreational, physical and mental activities. They organize trips to the interior of the country, being an unforgettable experience for them and every day their self esteem is better. The integration they have had is wonderful, their physical condition has improved markedly.
Currently the Institution is made up of approximately 6,500 active users, who can use the swimming pools, tennis courts, Squash, Fronton, Volleyball, Gym, Paddle, showers, steam, gardens, Cafeteria. We have tried to maintain accessible quotas, so that the majority can enjoy the activities, being this a non-profit institution.
